The Large Scale Steam Flood Pilot is a pilot project leading to a mega full field steamflood project. The first phase of pilot start up will be early 2007 with cold production from 25 production wells. The second phase of start up will be late 2008 with initial steam injection. This position is a key project team member and will help coordinate the overall construction contracting strategy and provide direction for various contractors. This position will provide input to project controls such as updates to the project schedule, cost, project reports, resource needs. The position also includes mentoring of other facility engineers in the projects organization. Although this project and position are based in Kuwait, intermittent travel to the U.S. will be required. University degree required (Mechanical or Civil engineering preferred). Knowledge of hydrocarbons, the impact of contaminants, and an understanding of the effect of variations in feedstock composition is beneficial. The candidate should have excellent computing skills including the use of a steady state process simulator and optimiser (preferably ASPEN). Exposure to process controls and instrumentation, fluid flow, and thermodynamics is valuable. The candidate will be capable of working independently to tight project deadlines. Good communications skills will be vital to keep the project team, the operations personnel, and the customer informed. The position may require occasional travel to plant sites for gathering data or running performance tests. It is essential to hold a valid passport and driving license and be willing to drive on the Continent if required. The job holder must have the following: proven C&I operations experience on similar oil and gas facilities, a degree or equivalent academic qualifications in an engineering discipline, will have performed client project support role for DCS development, and have at least 10 years of operational experience in preferably in an onshore/offshore production environment. The job holder must have proven experience of large project organisations, strong interpersonal and communicational skills with good written English, appreciation of operational requirements for DCS/ICSS, experience of alarm management systems, and be at a competent standard in desktop IT applications (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
