What about file caches when the cache is initialized in one process and
is used in another process? The context got destroyed when the first
process died long ago...

If there is an abstract cache layer (and it's there) I think consistent
behaviour should be provided for both file and memory caches. File caches
_do_ survive if the context gets destroyed (in fact, it is the normal case
for them), so memory caches should survive it too.
