LDAP and Heimdal

Hi,
I'm using MIT kerberos at the moment but I'm interesting in letting kerberos
get its informations in LDAP.
What's the status of LDAP + Heimdal? MIT doesn't provide it.
What's the status of Heimdal vs MIT? Is it usable or in development?
Is it safe / easy to migrate MIT -> Heimdal?
