Question about DES Keys

Well, i begin to convert the heimdal/lib/des/* to php, but when i try to convert 
DES_cbc_cksum from openssl, i have a heavy problem, the DES_encryption1 and D_ENCRYPT are 
too hard to convert.

There are any problem to use the MIT des libary and convert the neccesary parts to php?, 
There are any diferences between MIT DES Keys and Heimdal DES Keys?
