I tried the new Mosaic 3.1. It compiles without problem. Thanks for the support
of refresh URL's. Still I have a small problem with it. When a page is
displayed via a refresh URL I can't use the "Back" button to go back to the
previous page. It seems that the previous page is considered to be the page
with the refresh URL, which is refreshed, so it forwards immediately. It is
not a big problem, since I can use the "Window history" in the "Navigate" menu
to go back. Maybe this can be fixed in a next release?

This problem will be fixed in the next release, but the changes required
may be too extensive to release as a patch for version 3.1.

The support for refresh URLs can be disabled via the "Refresh URL Support"
option on the Options menu.

The fix for this is included in ftp://alpha.wvnet.edu/mosaic/patch1.zip
along with several other bug fixes. This zip file should be unzipped
in the same directory as mosaic3_1.zip.

Subject: Search Page Function in Kiosk/KioskPrint Mode
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi George!

First, as always, my personal thanks for the many improvements in the 3.1
release and for your continued support of Mosaic on OpenVMS! I am running
it on both VAX and Alpha from the production floor as the main interface
into my WEB based manufacturing information system.

I run Mosaic in kioskprint mode and it allows me to taylor the access of my
production users to only the information they need -- with no surfing
possible while running a machine! It is wonderful (also not possible with
Netscape). I find, now, that I would like to enable the search function in
kiosk mode also. Can you tell me if all the code needed to do this is in
gui.c and gui_menubar.c?

Thanks for your help!

Best Regards,

You can set the preference TOOLBAR_LAYOUT to

    "BACK,FORWARD,HOME,CLOSE,FIND,PRINT"

to add the search function. Remove the CLOSE if you want KIOSKNOEXIT.

This will, however, cause a message to be displayed when Mosaic is started.
To avoid the message, the routine mo_get_tools_from_res in GUI.C can
be modified to add FIND.

Thanks George!

Modifying GUI.C worked like a dream!
