Gore Vidal carries his mother's, Nina Gore, name. Nina was the daughter of Senator Thomas Gore of Oklahoma. Albert Gore is related to the Senator also but I don't know the actual relationship. A closer rereading of "Palimpsest" may clear it up. And Gore Vidal boring? Shocking, brutally frank, literate, infuriating, and often profound...but NEVER boring!
