Ila Lant posted a message about Tom MIX last spring. However, her
address is no longer valid so I am casting a broader net on this
subject.

I have some old notes from a distant and deceased relative to
the effect that Tom MIX changed his name from that of my mother's
family: MIKSCH. Whether Tom MIX made the change, as many actors
do, or whether it was done before, I don't know but would like to
find out.

In a related matter, there was a recent posting by Michael Cooley
who had searched "The Film Encyclopedia" and found a favorable PR
release on Tom plus a note that a biography by a close but
unnamed relative is not so commendable. Does anyone know the
title or author of the candid bio.?

I have data on the MIKSCH's going back to Michael MIKSCH b 1710
in Moravia and coming to America in 1740 with a mission to settle
Bethlehem. He married Johana Kuhn and they had 4 sons and 2
daughters. One son, Nathaniel b 1743 had 3 sons and one
daughter. My family descended from son Nathaniel Jr while, I
believe, Tom MIX descended from an older brother, John Frederick.

Any additional data, corroboration or clues are welcome.
