You will read about this is a well-documented book titled: CHRISTOPHER GIST OF MARYLAND 1679 and Some of His Descendants by Jean Muir Dorsey. It is out of print, and I found my copy at the Library of Congress. While I am not descended from this individual, I do recall reading about it in this 308 page two index book. Good luck! Pat Richley
