H. Howorth, A History of the Mongols from the 9th century to the 19th century (London, 1876), vol III I think, also, some information about the Mongols in the 17th century is in A. W. Hummell, Eminent Chinese of the Ch'ing Period, Washington 1943 I know of a connection between the descendants of Genghis Khan and the Ch'ing dynasty, though not a descent: the son of the last Mongol khan of Genghis' line with any political power, Legdan Khan, married the Manchu princess Makuta, sister of the Manchu khan Abahai. [I'm relying on memory here, I don't have my notes to hand.] However, I haven't found any connection between the Ming dynasty and either the Manchus or the Mongols -- if anyone knows of one please let me know. I'm sure there will be interest here, especially if you can clear up some of the puzzling things _Heimskringla_ has to say about Sancha de Ayala! ;) Actually, I am interested. Are any descents followed down into Ming times?
