autoheader2.50: error: shell error while sourcing /tmp/bam/ah21034/traces.sh

I tried using the older CVS version of autoconf which previously
worked, but apparently 2.52 is now required (the version I have).

The autoheader problem might be unrelated, but makes me nervous all
the same.
