You are right, there is no such code today. I've been considering to write
a tests for testing that running kinit against a kdc. This to be able to
test diffrent versions of kinit/kdc.

But with the arrival of libkdc, I'm though that I might just add a new
transport in krb5_sendto_kdc_flags & friends to allow linking kinit
together with libkdc and instead of doing network traffic, just do function
calls.

You should check for TESTS variables, those are the tests that are run in
when calling 'make check'.
