Poetry Year - FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Poetry Year - Challenge Continued
A: In short, Poetry Year is a challenge for anyone who is up to it. The goal is to set your own challenge, and then try to achieve it. See the background and rules for more information.

Q: What was Poetry Year 2005?
A: Poetry Year was the original challenge. The goal was to write a poem a day during 2005.

Q: Why should I join?
A: This question can only be answered by you. If it feels right, then join. If it doesn't feel quite right, then think about it for a while more. If it feels totally wrong and you think that Poetry Year would kill your creativity, then don't join.

Q: What do I get from this?
A: This is up to you and depends on how you do this. You may gain self esteem by meeting a challenge. You may get lots of new poet friends all over the world through the LiveJournal Community.

Q: So there is no great prize or reward?
A: No, there is no physical prize or reward. Hopefully Poetry Year will be rewarding for you in other ways. You may of course reward yourself in any way you like.

Q: Do I get my poems published afterwards?
A: Again, that is entirely up to you. Poetry Year will not publish your poems. It is entirely up to you what you want to do with them.

Q: Isn't this a rip-off of NaNoWriMo?
A: Well, it is very much inspired by NaNoWriMo (http://www.nanowrimo.org), but it doesn't compete with it in any way. You may even use your daily poems during November in your NaNo novel and add them to your wordcount, if you want to.
