OK, it definitely looks as if Heimdal does not have openldap built-in. I
use FreeBSD ports collection to intstall, and have used portupgrade
which installed heimdal-0.6_2, the latest port for FreeBSD. Unless you
are familiar with FreeBSD ports, I'll go to that list to find out how to
make sure the support gets built-in, I can't seem to figure it out. But
do you know how I can tell for sure that it is not built-in? I am basing
this on the fact that when I add 'dbname =
ldap:ou=Users,dc=webtent,dc=net' to my database section in krb5.conf, it
creates the .db and .log files.

Still the same problem, but Heimdal seems to function fine:
