I should actually have read rfc3244 before asking about it...  I see
it's basically compatible -- which explains why the Windows end works
-- but it allows you to set passwords without knowing them.  I can see
some use for that.

I can't see what the support is for it in kpasswd, though.  How does
it work on the client?
